Week Two: Fun and the Front
That's Mt. Maurice, as you can see, it's erupting. That's right, we had our camp
on an active volcano. Or it could be plumes from the forest fire 10 miles east
of us. It provided us shade in Elk Basin and cancelled the 2 mile uphill march
we were going to have to do.

That's the front bar i think, one of those dollars is the one I tossed up.
It's the weekend again. And this time a few of us have chosen to hike to a lake
called Glacier lake. Except some people felt they should follow the water fall
up instead of going along the trail.
There they go, while Jane and I just followed the trail.
Ah, Glacier lake, beautiful vista.
It was nice, we waited a few hours there for the climbers to show up... They
never did.
Chipmunk! He was begging for food but we weren't giving in. We shooed him away
when he prepared to ascend Jane's back.
Me in the water. Ok, this water was about 40 degrees... It hurt. Eventually,
several hours later, after I caught a few naps in the parking lot and worked on
my tan, the other climbers finally got back. Crazy kids, nearly got themselves
killed up there, but they had fun, but were rather scratched up.
This was when we mapped the Rosebud glacial debris field. Kinda as a right of
passage we all took turns jumping off a bridge. Here's me and BJ jumping. On the
bridge are Laurie, Audrey, and Rich.

Here we are, hiking away. Gotta watch out for the wild horses and barbed wire
fences... Climbed over a lot of barb wire that day.
