The site east of Tazzarine.

Now that we were done with our main mission, we took a break and checked out some other cool geo sites. One of those is an orthoceras site east of Tazzarine that produces the best Orthoceras stone in the world. These were a kind of mollusk related to squids. They left some interesting shells in limestone that can be fashioned into almost anything.

Oh ya, that's the sheep market. There aren't many left after the festival...

Large blocks of Orthoceras stone ready to be cut.

Sand.

There the quarry where they blast out the stone and shape it into blocks.

A look towards another devonian trilobite site.

A sampling of the stone.

Closeup of a really big one.

Supposedly they can be used as current direction indicators.

And the stuff is everywhere, I want to cover some floors in this stuff.

End of Part V.
